Central deviated from its usual Bedford / Duple coach policy in 1966, when it took delivery of five Albion Viking coaches with panoramic Alexander Y-type bodies - rare beasts indeed in the Central SMT fleet. The innovation was short-lived, however, and this little fleet of coaches went the way of so many similar double-deck batches. All five were withdrawn the following year and despatched to Highland.
AC1 had the distinction of being displayed at the 1965 Scottish Motor Show in the Kelvin Hall, Glasgow.
